The Poetry of New Shoots

The Poetry of New Shoots

A chance to show and tell: Wednesday 12th March 11.00-12.00 (GMT)

Share a poem, reading, image, story or other piece of art about “new shoots” as we explore the Poetic Principle of Appreciative Inquiry.

The poetic principle within Appreciative Inquiry suggests that what we focus on grows. In a poem, hymn, prayer, reading, painting or piece of music, there are endless meanings, interpretations and significances. So there are in stories that we hear and tell. As Jane Magruder Watkins wrote:

Human organisations are open books. An organisation’s story is constantly being co-authored by people within the organisation as well as by those outside who interact with it…We can inquire into the nature of alienation or the nature of joy. We can study moments of creativity and innovation, or moments of debilitating stress. We have a choice.

So for this month’s Appreciative Space you are invited to bring and share something that speaks to you of “new shoots”. The conversation will be facilitated by Fiona Thomas, Appreciating Church’s developmentalist.

Held monthly, Appreciative Space encourages appreciative inquiry practitioners to share stories of their work with churches and other organisations as part of a self-sustaining community of practice. It is open to registered full members of Appreciating Church

If you would like to try a session before committing to membership please contact enquiries@appreciating.church
