Like many Synods in the United Reformed Church, the National Synod of Wales is wrestling with the question of how to deploy stipendiary ministry. Jason Askew uses Appreciative Inquiry to bring a fresh perspective.
Appreciative Inquiry has helped the Synod to move from juggling fixed geographical locations and constantly changing numerical estimations, to an on-going exploration of “all member ministry”. Starting with conversations to discover the high points of congregational life and the discipleship dreams of individuals, Jason tells the story using the 5D cycle as a frame. This work has led to an on-going process of meeting the challenges of change with positivity and constructive conversations, as can be seen in a short video
